I shall plan each breeding with the paramount intention of improving the breed.
I will select the stud dog and brood bitch with an eye to conformation, temperament and the ability to do the job it is being bred for, with a careful study of the breed standard and the principles of genetics.
I will not intentionally breed any male or female until they are both physically and mentally mature.
Before entering into any breeding arrangement, I will scrutinize the pedigree, conformation and temperament of both the sire and dam, keeping in mind the ideal of the breed. I have an obligation to refuse the breeding if, in my opinion, it is not in the best interest of the breed.
As a responsible stud dog owner, I understand that should I refuse a breeding, I will fully explain my reasons to the owner of the bitch.
I believe only those dogs free of serious or disqualifying defects should be used for breeding. I will not breed monorchids, cryptorchids, dogs with vicious or shy temperaments, or dogs with serious defects or disqualifications as addressed in the Anatolian breed standard. And, I will not continue to breed a dog that, although free from serious or disqualifying defects, produces afflicted puppies. Such puppies will only go to pet homes on a spay/neuter contract and the owners shall be fully informed of any such affliction.
Only dogs that have tested and cleared for hip dysplasia (OFA Excellent/Good), hypothyroidism and entropion will be used for breeding, and I will do all in my power to produce only healthy confident puppies with correct structures and temperament for the breed.
All pups will go to their new homes with first shots, dewormed, health certificates and written contracts. All new prospective parents will have the assurance of lifetime support for their pup and will be encouraged to contact me at any time they have questions or concerns about their pup.
I will be discriminating in the sales of my pups, and concerned with the type of homes in which they are placed. My dogs/puppies will never be sold to dog wholesalers or retailers.
Prospective new puppy owners sold a pup on a spay/neuter contract will receive registration papers with “limited registration” marked on the form. No pups will be released to their new homes until they are at least eight (8) weeks old.
My advertising of dogs/pups will be factual and honest, both in substance and implication. I will avoid encouraging buyers regarding the breeding potential of a dog/pup.
I believe breeding purebred dogs involves a grave responsibility that I do not take lightly and I will do my best to better my breed through carefully planned breedings of only the best possible dogs.
